HEART TRIVET | CROCHET TUTORIAL

This quick project will give you practice forming shapes with the jasmine stitch.


Skill level : intermediate or adventurous beginner


Materials

  • 22 yds category 4/ worsted weight cotton yarn

  • 5mm hook (link)

  • tapestry needle (link)

  • scissors (link)

  • The pattern is written using standard US terms.

  • This pattern uses the jasmine stitch. Check out a brief tutorial here.

Written Tutorial

Foundation row:  Make a slip knot and chain 1.  Make 5 puff stitches.


Row 1: Make a 2 puff cluster. Make [3 puff cluster] x 4. Make a 2 puff cluster. Turn work.

Row 2: Make a 2 puff cluster. Make [3 puff cluster] x 4. Turn work.

Row 3: Make a 2 puff cluster.  Make a 3 puff cluster. Make a 2 puff cluster. Turn work

Row 4: Make a single puff stitch. Make [3 puff cluster] x 2. Turn work.

Row 5: Make a 2 puff cluster. Make a 3 puff cluster. Cut yarn. Secure ends and finish off.


TIP: You can alter the characteristics of the fabric by changing the number of yarn overs in each puff/petal. Increase the number of yarn overs to create a thicker fabric.  Decrease the number of yarn overs to create a thinner fabric.
